BoardNotes Privacy Policy

📋Introduction

Thank you for using BoardNotes (hereinafter referred to as "the App" or "we"). We deeply understand the importance of personal privacy and are committed to protecting your information. This Privacy Policy is designed to clearly explain how we collect, use, store, and protect your data.

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the App, you signify that you fully understand and agree to all terms described in this policy. If you do not agree with any part of this policy, please discontinue use of the App.

🔍Information We Collect

The App follows the principle of data minimization. Below is a detailed list of what we collect, what we do not collect, and what may be collected by third parties:

1. Information We Do NOT Collect

• Personal Identifiable Information: We do not collect your phone number, email address, name, ID number, home address, or any other information that can directly or indirectly identify you.
• Account Registration Information: The App does not require account registration and has no account/password system, so no such information is collected.
• Note Content: All of your handwritten notes, imported documents, annotations, etc., are stored locally on your device and in your personal iCloud account. We do not upload these contents to our servers and cannot access them.
• Location Information: We do not collect your precise or approximate geographic location.
• Contacts and Photo Library: Unless you actively choose to import an image into a note (in which case only the selected image is read via system-level interface with your authorization), we do not scan or collect your contacts or photo library content.

2. Automatically Bound Information — iCloud Account

The App automatically binds to the iCloud account logged in on your device. This binding is solely for data synchronization across multiple devices via Apple's iCloud sync service. Specifically:

• We use Apple's iCloud Drive or CloudKit framework to store your note data in your personal iCloud storage space.
• Notes are automatically synced between iOS devices signed in to the same iCloud account. This process is entirely handled by Apple's iCloud infrastructure; we have no access to data in transit or stored in iCloud.
• We may obtain an anonymous identifier associated with the iCloud account (such as a CloudKit user record ID), which is used solely to distinguish different sync containers and is not linked to your personal identity.

3. Information Potentially Collected by Third Parties

The App integrates the following third-party services, which may collect certain information in accordance with their own privacy policies:

* Information collected by the AdSet platform is governed by its Privacy Policy. You can manage relevant permissions by resetting your advertising identifier or enabling "Limit Ad Tracking" in your device Settings.

☁️iCloud Sync Details

BoardNotes deeply integrates with the Apple iCloud ecosystem to provide a seamless multi-device sync experience. Key details of this mechanism are as follows:

• Binding Method: The App automatically detects the iCloud account currently logged in on the device and associates with it upon launch. No manual credential entry is required.
• Data Storage Location: Your note data is stored in the iCloud private database assigned to you by Apple. This database is bound to your Apple ID and cannot be accessed by other users (including the developer).
• Sync Scope: All iOS devices signed in with the same Apple ID and with BoardNotes installed will sync notes in near real-time.
• Offline Support: You can still use the App normally even when the device is temporarily offline. Changes will automatically sync to iCloud and distribute to other devices once the network is restored.
• Account Changes: If the device signs out of iCloud or switches to a different Apple ID, the App will no longer be able to access the previously synced data. The original data remains in the iCloud storage of the original Apple ID.

📢Advertising & Device Identifiers

The App integrates the third-party advertising platform AdSet (Shanghai Shenshi Information Technology Co., Ltd.) to display ads, which supports the free operation of the App. AdSet may collect and use your device identifiers to serve relevant advertisements.

Device Identifiers Involved

• IDFA (Identifier for Advertisers): An Apple-provided device identifier for advertising purposes. You can reset this identifier or disable "Allow Apps to Request to Track" in your iOS device's Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking to prevent cross-app tracking.
• IDFV (Identifier for Vendors): An identifier shared among apps from the same developer account. It is mainly used for frequency capping and basic ad measurement, and is not used for cross-developer user profiling.

Your Choices

When you first launch the App, the Apple system will display a prompt on our behalf requesting cross-app tracking permission. You are free to choose "Allow" or "Ask App Not to Track". Regardless of your choice, the core functions of the App (note editing, iCloud sync, Google Drive import/export) will not be affected in any way. Opting out of tracking only prevents AdSet from delivering personalized ads to you; you will still see ads, but they may be less relevant.

🔗Google Drive Integration & Data Authorization

The App integrates the Google Drive API to allow you to import documents such as PDFs from Google Drive into BoardNotes for annotation, or to back up local notes to your Google Drive storage.

Authorization Mechanism

• When you first use Google Drive-related features, the system will guide you through Google's official OAuth 2.0 flow for authorization.
• During authorization, you will need to sign in to your Google account and explicitly consent to BoardNotes accessing files in your Google Drive.
• The scope of permissions we request is strictly limited to: reading files in the folder you select or specify and creating backup files in your Google Drive. We do not request permission to access other unrelated files in your Google Drive.

Data Usage & Storage

• Download: When you choose to download a document from Google Drive, the file is transferred to your device's local storage for you to open and edit in BoardNotes. We do not cache or store these files on any intermediate server.
• Backup Upload: When you choose to back up notes to Google Drive, the App creates backup files in your Google Drive. The backup content is uploaded directly from your device to Google's servers without passing through our servers.
• Token Management: The App securely stores OAuth refresh tokens locally on the device to maintain authorization status. You can revoke this authorization at any time within the App; upon revocation, the App will delete the locally stored token and stop accessing your Google Drive.

🛡️Data Storage & Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data security:

• Local Storage: Note data is primarily stored in your device's local file system, protected by iOS sandboxing and system-level encryption.
• Cloud Storage: Data synced via iCloud is protected by Apple's infrastructure; Google Drive backups are protected by Google's security mechanisms. Both cloud services utilize industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS).
• No Server Intermediary: We do not operate backend servers to store or process your note content. All data transfers occur directly between your device and Apple iCloud or Google Drive.
• Third-Party SDK Security: We carefully select integrated third-party SDKs and regularly update them to the latest versions to address potential security vulnerabilities.

Despite the measures we take, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we continuously strive to protect your information.

👶Children's Privacy

This App is intended for users of all ages. However, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent age in your jurisdiction). If we discover that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child, we will take immediate steps to delete the data.

If you are a parent or guardian and you become aware that your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us via the information below so that we can take prompt action.

⚖️Your Rights

Under applicable data protection laws, you have the following rights:

• Access & Export: You can export your note data at any time using the Google Drive backup feature, or obtain local files via iTunes/Finder file sharing.
• Data Deletion: You can delete notes directly within the App, or delete app data through iOS system settings. Synced data in iCloud can be deleted via the iCloud management panel of your Apple ID.
• Revoke Authorization: You can revoke Google Drive access authorization at any time in the App settings; iCloud sync can be turned off in your device's iCloud settings.
• Limit Ad Tracking: Manage ad tracking permissions through iOS system privacy settings (see "Advertising & Device Identifiers" section above).
• Right to Complain: If you have concerns about our data processing practices, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal compliance reasons. The updated policy will be notified to you through the following methods:

• Displaying an update notice prominently within the App;
• Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page;
• For material changes, we may notify you via an in-app pop-up or other more prominent means.
